ABOUT「竹会」
Oita Prefecture is Japan's largest producer of madake bamboo.
The people of Oita have always loved good bamboo,using it in many different ways,
such as the nationally-designated traditional art of Beppu Bamboo Crafting,
as well as creating daily items,souvenirs,and works of art.
TAKE-E is a chance to see,feel,taste,
and listen to what makes bamboo so captivating.
Discover a new side to bamboo.

Bamboo artisans cut, strip, and weave bamboo live at the venue. Please enjoy the exhibit as it changes day by day.
Bamboo crafts light up at night,turning OPAM into a surreal wonderland. -
Workshops and other lessons to interact with bamboo.
Bamboo crafts by local artisans in the prefecture in the museum gift shop. -
A cafe will be open during the Closing Ceremony with a special menu.
The specialties of Oita and Beppu will be served in bamboo cups. -
Bamboo has also been used as a musical instrument You can also enjoy various events related to bamboo,such as live music performances.
During the event,you can enjoy the sound of bamboo and performances of ancient musical instruments.

For 60 years in Beppu, there has been a Shinto ritual of weaving a very large shikainami basket to present to the gods. To start the illumination phase of the exhibit,a special version of this tradition will be held live alongside the music of an Oitan-made bamboo flute.

A closing event with a lovely bamboo pan flute performance as well as a special dish* at the café.
Date Saturday,November 4,from 6:00 P.M. Performance Arcadia(Kyoko Aso) Special dish A meal of Oitan sake and Beppu hell-steamed bamboo shoots, served with bamboo dinnerware. (¥500/Limited to 50)
*Bamboo dinnerware can be taken home.
